People who committed to the outrageous lifestyle explained why they drink their own urine instead of flushing it. They say that it is one of the natural ways to enhance your overall health.
Rubbing urine onto the skin, drinking it, and washing eyes with it is a centuries-old practice. It is believed by some people to reverse aging, boost energy levels and cure diseases. Some health bloggers even promote the grotesque idea.
Christo Dabraccio, a meteorologist from Idaho, said that drinking his urine leaves him feeling like a superhero and the practice helped him lose 13.6 kilograms.
He also recommended it to painter Julia Sillaman from Maryland. She said that it has worked wonders for her skin and she lost 11.3 kilograms in the process.
One scientist says that people drinking their urine “do nothing more than make a mockery of themselves.” There is no evidence that doing so has benefits.
But many people still drink their own urine because of others recommending it on the internet. It is believed that urine has compounds that can be reabsorbed to enhance the body’s ability to combat diseases while providing detoxifying effects.
49-year-old Christ Dabraccio claims that ‘urine therapy’ helped him feel like Superman and he lost 13.6 kg.
“I heard about it online and to be honest I was immediately grossed out. But the more I researched and read testimonials, the more trust I gained.
Your pee is just a highly filtered derivative of your blood, and blood is your lifeforce, so it makes sense. As soon as I tried it, I started feeling like Superman.
I was loaded with energy, my head was clearer, I felt younger and my skin was glowing. It’s like a fountain of youth.”
Mr. Dabraccio saves his urine in bottles and he drinks three cups of it daily. He also uses it for washing his eyes and face.
26-year-old Julia Sillaman also said that her acne disappeared after she started massaging her urine onto her skin, thanks to Christo’s recommendation. She also lost 11.3 kg since taking up urine therapy.
Ms. Sillaman said: “I was breaking out badly in acne, but I was hesitant to see a dermatologist. That’s when I met Christo – I remember seeing how healthy he looked and how clear his eyes were. He told me to try urine therapy for my skin.
It didn’t gross me out, I was intrigued. The day after I started massaging it into my skin, the inflammation went down and my skin smoothed out. After I started fasting, the pee stopped smelling and started tasting like coconut water.
I have more energy and feel more in touch with nature. This has changed my life – I feel like a different person. I think I will do it for the rest of my life, but maybe not as strictly as I am now.
I expected my family to be weirded out, but after seeing my results some of them are trying it for themselves.”
Professor Henry Woo, a urological surgeon at the University of Sydney, said:
“There is absolutely no scientific evidence to suggest that urine therapy has any therapeutic value. Those who drink their own urine do nothing more than make a mockery of themselves.”
