The duo erected a camp at Glacier National Park, where they witnessed a lightning storm struck. On Aug 12, the small flame of fire aggravated and turned into a Howe Ridge Fire that had spread through thousands of acres of land around Lake McDonald. As soon as the son and father realized that they need to get out of the place, they soon jumped into the car that they took for rent and drove through the extreme flames to cross the forest. You can see Charlie speaking to his panicked son to calm him down in the video.
Confidently, the father told the son that we could drive through the flames. However, the son had a big doubt of the car getting blown up. In this terrifying moment, father elevated the confidence of the son and told to drive at a moderate speed. The fumes of fire started surrounding on the way they are driving towards and had hit the windshield of the car suddenly. The temperature of the car started to rise. Justine was praying to God to rescue them out of this untoward incident.
In the post that was shared on the Facebook, Justin stated that there were safely driving through the road a few hours before to have wonderful camping, but the same way has turned them a deathbed. While driving, they came across a tree which caught fire. They used fire-proof gloves to move the tree out of their way to drive safely.
When his father was trying to move the burnt tree out, the son was very afraid but had cooled down thinking that the old man is too stubborn and strong. The son stated that his father was totally cool even in this frantic situation. On the way, they had to take a U-turn to move towards the trailhead and then drive towards the Lake. The car succumbed with flames.
Once they reached the lake, they found two park employees and the captain of the tour boat named Jess Kimball and a ranger named Dave. They had rescued by these people, according to KRTV. After 10 to 15 minutes after the duo had left from the place, the whole area had caught intense fire. The aftermath of this fire is it destroyed nine homes and cabins. In addition, hundreds of people were moved safely from the campgrounds.
