A 29-year-old teacher who accepted that she performed oral sex on a 14-year-old boy on ‘multiple occasions and in multiple locations’ will not be banned from school.
Dori Myers, a social studies teacher at The New School for Leadership and the Arts in Kingsbridge is the wife of a Rockland County sheriff’s officer and found guilty to a criminal sex act.
The 29-year-old teacher will not be removed from her teaching licence but she will have to sign the sex offenders register and has been given ten years of probation.
Defence lawyer Andrew Stoll said: “There is a possibility that she could teach adults now or in the future and we want to preserve that possibility.’’
“She still is a talented teacher and has those skills, and I don’t see any reason to destroy her ability to make a living and to contribute to society in a positive way.”
The judge said: ‘’This would be a matter that any licensing agency will be able to consider if they choose to do that, and of course any employer.’’
Myers was arrested in January after the victim disclosed to a classmate about their relationship. A co-worker also claimed to have seen the teacher massaging the victim.
