Prince Harry and Meghan have a new Head of Protection who has been working with them, armed and in heels, for several months following the retirement of their previous head of security.
The female senior police officer, who holds the rank of Inspector, has not been named for security reasons but is known to be overseeing security operations and collaborating with the police during the royal couple’s current 16-day trip across Australia, New Zealand, Fiji, and Tonga.

The female Inspector, who looks surprisingly glamorous according to many royal fans, is responsible for keeping the couple safe throughout the 76 engagements of their tour.
A Royal Member having a female bodyguard, however, is no exception. Most senior female royals have at least one woman on their security team, though they are typically not responsible for leading the entire teams.
The current police officer in charge of Meghan’s security follows the retirement of Sergeant Bill Renshaw who had been in the force for over 30 years.

She was recently spotted in Melbourne as she was carefully keeping an eye on the pregnant Duchess while she was making a huge public walkabout.
The head of protection was seen wearing black culottes, black jacket, striped top, and beige heels as the Duchess posed for photos with fans and shook hands.
While Kensington Palace refused to comment on the new head of security, a Metropolitan Police spokesman said: “there are a number of female officers working within the Royalty and Specialist Protection Command, including an inspector currently working in Australia.” However, the police were not ready to disclose any information about their identities.
Speaking of the BBC hit Bodyguard during a recent interview, Met Commissioner Cressida Dick expressed how “it’s great of course to have senior female role models and figures in senior positions in drama as well as real life.”
“I think it inspires lots of people to think I maybe could be the Home Secretary or maybe I could do this … I have a lot of protection officers.”
As one insider also revealed according to Mail Online, the inspector in charge of the royal couple was a “brilliant” appointment.
“As these officers are by their principal’s side 24 hours a day, it is always preferential to have a woman on the team. There are some things that an MRF (Member of the Royal Family) just feels more comfortable doing with a woman at her side,” they added.
“But to have a woman in charge of the team is pretty much unheard of. It is good news for the Duke and Duchess and good news for the force.”
