Just one year before he celebrates his 70th birthday, screen icon-turned humanitarian activist Richard Gere is set to become a father again with his new wife, Alejandra Silva.
The Hollywood actor is expecting their first child together, according to Spanish daily ABC. The Madrid-based newspaper shared the news of Gere’s marriage to the gorgeous Spaniard, 35, earlier this year.
The Nights in Rodanthe star tied the knot with the Spanish publicist after four years of being together at a civil ceremony in Spain before celebrating the occasion with family and friends near New York.
“I am the happiest man in the universe, how could I not be?” he expressed after the US blessing.
Sources say that it was still unclear if their child would be born in Spain or the States, where they are now believed to be based most of the time.
The two both have children of their own. Richard, who will turn 69 this month, has an 18-year-old son named Homer with previous wife Carey Lowell.
Alejandra, who met Richard while divorcing her former husband Govind Friedland, a son of mining magnate Robert Friedland, has a 5-year-old son named Alberto.
The Pretty Woman star met his other half at a luxury Italian boutique hotel Alejandra purchased with her previous husband and was handling at that time.
In an interview with glossy Magazine Hola in 2016, the Galician-born blonde said: “Richard has been my hero in real life. I was a little lost, without light, and meeting him gave sense to my life.
I felt like someone was stretching out his hand and showing me the true path.”
It was in 2015 when their relationship first became public.
